MU President receives Dr. Hussein Akasha, Pioneer of Ultrasonic Endoscopic Waves

Prof.Dr. Essam Farhat, the President of Minia University, received Dr. Hussein Akasha, a professor of internal medicine, gastrointestinal endoscopy, and ultrasonic endoscopic waves at the Faculty of Medicine, Cairo University, and a pioneer in the field of ultrasonic endoscopic waves in Egypt and the Arab world. This meeting took place during his visit to the university hospitals, where he performed six ultrasonic wave endoscopy procedures for patients suffering from tumors and cysts in the pancreas.

Samples of these tumors were obtained through endoscopy using fine needle aspiration, inserted into the endoscope channel for analysis at the university's pathology laboratories. This workshop marks a significant milestone in Minia Governorate, representing a breakthrough in endoscopy in the region, offering broad hope for serving patients with digestive system tumors and biliary ducts, sparing them the need to travel long distances for this technology.

Present at the meeting were Dr. Ayman Hassanein, the University's Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development and the Executive Director of University Hospitals, Prof. Hossam Shawky, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and President of the University Hospitals Board, Dr. Alaa El-Soueify, Director of the Gastrointestinal Endoscopy Unit, and several academic members from the Faculty of Medicine.

During the meeting, the university president warmly welcomed Dr. Akasha to the University of Minia, expressing his delight at the honor bestowed upon the university by Dr. Akasha's valuable scientific contributions enriching the academic mission. Discussions also touched upon the possibility of organizing various workshops, the necessity of supporting this vital field, and harnessing all resources at the university and its hospitals to provide advanced medical equipment, implement the latest international standards, and apply cutting-edge scientific advancements to serve the region's residents.

Dr. Akasha expressed his gratitude to the university leadership for the warm reception, commending the ongoing developments and wishing for further success to enable the university to play its vital role in meeting the region's construction and development needs.

At the conclusion of the meeting, Dr. Essam Farhat presented the university shield to Dr. Hussein Akasha in recognition of his scientific efforts in the medical field in Egypt and the Arab world
