The Department of Forensic Medicine and Clinical Toxicology seeks to graduate professional doctors with a scientific and cultural experience, competitive abilities, distinguished by the ethical commitment to the profession and contemporary to progress in various branches of study and knowledge.
The department also is working to be a regional leader in the prevention and treatment of poisoning, and be a prominent member to meet health needs through collaboration with hospitals public health, and emergency service entities to reduce the harmful effects of poisoning to drive reform in medical education. The department always strives to achieve equality of rights and balance between right and duty with mutual respect and we work together for the benefit of the community.
Mission
The Department teaches the following courses for human medicine students: various forensic and criminal medical sciences. Clinical toxins. The ethics of the practice of medicine and the ethics and traditions of human medicine in Egypt. To achieve the following objectives: Rehabilitation of human medicine students through theoretical and practical lessons to diagnose and treat poisoning cases, whether accidental or criminal and steps to treat cases of toxic poisoning. Providing high-quality legal medical services to prepare a doctor who is familiar with legal problems and clarifying the vagueness of criminal cases referred to forensic medicine by the judiciary, while respecting human rights. To qualify students for practical life by teaching them the ethics and traditions of medical profession and avoiding the mistakes of the profession they will work on when they graduate. * The department seeks to continuously develop programs and courses and support and develop scientific research with the expansion of applied scientific research. * The Department teaches the courses of forensic medicine and toxicology for postgraduate students to prepare researchers in those specialties, which is reflected in the provision of community service, educational and research high-level. * The Department believes that the message should maintain the existence of an integrated record of all its educational sources as well as the present use of them. The department is keen to provide appropriate treatment for poisoning cases and increase the community's knowledge about toxicology.
Goals
1- Providing interaction in the class and intellectual discussion of the medical course to recognize the types of laws and their relation to medical practice, to understand basis of medical ethics and to know life threatening intoxications.
2- Focusing on the learning needs of the students by providing them with essential practical skills in physical examination of patients, interpreting analytical results, formulating management plan for common acute poisoning cases, working in a team during sessions of case studies in addition to weekly discussion and assignments.
